Good Idea, but…

The words at the left have meaning but in this, the ‘Trumpian Era‘, those words are coming to mean nothing… Nothing at all because no actions abound to put a stop to the dishonoring of the highest political office in the United States of America…

There are those who rhetorically can, with their words, shape an argument that will have people, citizens of this land, nodding their heads in agreement, but upon closer examination, their eyes are glazed over with that proverbial ‘thousand yard stare’…  Why is that…?  Are they on “information overload”…?

To borrow some words from a collection of essays ‘from the best blog no one is reading‘, “Facts win battles…, not emotions.”  It truly is an emotional time for us all especially those who live by “…the facts…”

Some of my favorite pundits are: Robert Reich, Richard Wolff, Noam Chomsky, Thomas Friedman, and others who will be noted in upcoming essays…

Considering the current occupant of ‘the people’s house‘, – a.k.a. ‘the White House’ – who, in his short term in office so far, [almost 9 months at this writing] Donald Trump has managed to raise the ire of many a pundit who write of his less-than-desireable qualities when it comes to the presidency and how he is handling such a powerful political position of leadership in trade, health care, economics, foreign policy, diplomacy, commander-in-chief decisions, and just day to day workings of such a powerful world leadership position…  The facts are there but the emotional climate surrounding such facts pushes them way into the background only to be replaced by “alternative facts”…

In a way, Trump is carrying on a terrible “tradition”; as the U.S. government reneged on treaty after treaty with the American native tribes, he is pulling out all the stops in tearing down what the previous administration attempted to build over an eight year period when it comes to many items like the environment for example – his choice for the head of the EPA [Environmental Protection Agency] is working on making the EPA a milk-toast agency with no power to protect the environment and in the process, line his pockets with lots of cash from those in the fossil fuel industry cheering him on; think Robert E. Murray of Murray Energy

Will Trump resign before his [ugh] four year term is up…?  It’s doubtful in spite of many alleged laws he is breaking while working as the president…  In our history, only three presidents resigned before their four year term was up: 1868, Andrew Johnson / 1974, Richard Nixon / 1998 Bill Clinton*

On and on go Trump’s abuses of the office of President of the United States of America but he will not be impeached or resign… He is adored by his base and those in the GOP fear his base because they care more about getting re-elected than they do in doing the right thing when it comes to standing up to Trump…

  1. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both impeached but not convicted in their trial in the senate and as such were not removed from office. Only Nixon resigned and left office before the end of his term.
